Operating Principles
Every three seconds the IR-LED emits a 4 kHz burst of collimated light. In clear air the beam misses the photodiode; when smoke enters, light is scattered onto the diode. If two successive pulses exceed the threshold, the detector switches to alarm, increasing supply current to ~75 mA and illuminating the LED. Reset by clearing smoke and interrupting power for ≥1 s.
